I would research a bit more before taking the promotion or firing the lawyer. Obviously we don't know gnu01's entire background. And his lawyer knows it the best.
So, gnu01 why don't you ask your lawyer for more details on why you should not take the promotion? Also, if there is a genuine problem, you could always take the responsibilities and salary, just not the title. This is a very accepted practice as we have seen in the AC21 cases.

Chill out dude! Don't worry too much, you've got the GC stamping
so loosen up and enjoy your freedom a bit before getting back into continuous worry mode.
Your worries sound like a luxury to those of us who haven't got the approval yet, hang loose....

guys sorry I wasn't very clear.
I didn't get approved yet. That's why m lawyer advsed not to take a promotion. His reasoning is not just the title. Right now my salary is 50% higher than my LCA even in current position. His argument is title change along with a huge difference in slary triggers lot of doubts during approval.
My question to the forum members is how long should I wait after approval (If I get the approval at all). I could have asked my lawyer , the same question, but did not want to sound like an ambitios bastard in front of my director and HR folks ( They are also involved in the communication with lawyer. I know lawyer's the best people ultimately, but I feel comfortable to have a discussion in this forum .
