***** Horrible BCIS *****

Don't worry dsatish.
You don't know what is hidden in future.
Somethings looks bad but actually it may be for our betterment.

You can plan and enjoy your life even with 50K. I did.
I have also chosen same path for GC and I am not at all unhappy with the things.

Yes at times things are delayed and we start cursing ourselves.
Though we are slow but steady .
Right???

So Cheer Up Buddy...:)

Re: Desi consulting vs Gora company

I saw some discussion about desi (indian) consulting firms versus American companies. As every one knows, if you want to play safe and GC is your main criteria, then the conventional wisdom pushes us towards these desi companies. They squeeze you very bad financially, but you are almost assured of GC. I took this painful path because i have always been a long term strategist by nature. It affected my financial resources very badly. Though i have been in projects for 43 out of last 48 months (total bench time is 5 months in last 4 yrs), i have never seen $10,000 in my bank account. I have not sent any money to India also. Working for around 50K for the past 4 to 5 yrs with a family, and a car loan, left my pockets dry. I see many of my friends who took a risk and joined the clients and they are all now in I485 stage and made a lot of money (with salaries of 75k+ ). Some of them purchased own houses too. My last two clients offered me full time job (salary 75K), but i didn't join. In the final analysis, there is no clear cut answer to the question of whether we should go for permanent job or stick with desi consulting firms. Life has different answers for different people.

In my experience, during the process of GC, going thro' the pain of less salary is better than joining some company for higher salary and get laid off because of that. My salary was also not upto the market standard but I had an employer who supported me throughout the entire process. Because of him I was able to concentrate on the career rather than worrying about GC process.

Hang on there. Your GC approval should be around the corner.

Glad to see similar thinking people on this forum.
Although it is agreed that nobody knows what
will happen next moment, little sacrifice for the
betterment of long term future is the way to go.

Thanks,

I agree, it is better to make 10-15K lesser than to get some high paying job and suffer lay offs.

Think of this, if you take high paying job and get laid off then what is the use of it, if you devote next 5-6 months looking for a new one, this will even out the salary anyway.... and less misery too...
