Honest Opinion of DV-2012 Lottery-The Worst Ever!!!!

May 13th, 2011 marked the worst DV lottery experience ever. On that day, the 'initial winners' emotions and feelings were crushed when they found out that there is going to be a 're-draw'. I felt their pain even though I was not a winner.

On the other hand, the fate of the 'initial losers' (and winners) are once again in limbo and the majority of these ones will get a double dose of 'losing' and 'disappointment' come July 15th, 2011.

While mistakes can happen, this situation has caused me to reflect on what I truly believe in, that is "DO THINGS RIGHT THE FIRST TIME". If this was done, if they had performed a test-run, this mess could have been avoided!!!!.

You know, it's the way things are going everywhere. Quality and service are decreasing, mistakes are increasing. It's frustrating but you can't get all riled up about every screw-up because you'd spend most of your day angry. My husband got selected, we were elated, then shattered but we've moved on.

I am completely agree with you ,,the ex winners will never forget the moment when they cancelled the results , what i think about is what will happen to the ex winner when they discover they did not win in the coming results , oh , there will be more and more disappointment ,and imagine what will be their feelings when they participate in the next 2013 and next years without success ...
the idea is if you just left them to be lucky again in future lottery s ,there is no hope to win again allover there life , there is no person who is lucky enough to win a lottery for twice in his life ,never happened in human history ...thats why they think they are victims not only mostly they will not be winners again in 15 july but also no one win a lottery in his life for twice,,, we all know if the green card came to you once it will never come again,,thats why people are disappointed and even depressed .it is not easy , not easy at all ....

ok what you will feel if you were ex winner and discovered you were a non winner in 15 july , ,,what is the odds ratio to win it for twice in your future years and do not try to think as a single person try to think about the whole 22000 how many of them will win it again in the coming 10 years?!!and what they will feel every year the discover they are non winer,, even if 21999 get the gc in the next 10 years by "a miracle " what about the remaining one ? i know when you discover you are a non winner in the lottery you feel disappointed for seconds or maybe mints ,but here the situation is completely deferent because you have a bad memory i really mean it i think the only people know what i mean is the ex winners , and this is the idea
Although we must respect th KCC decision whatever is it but we can not just push the button to delete what happened , This shocking and disappointing news will remain in the ex winners all over their life .I am not over estimating the events but its real feeling .

Agreed. While people may say "move on", "don't get upset" etc., but sometimes it's not easy to turn the button of emotions on or off. Some persons can move on easy, but it may take a long time for others to do so. I guess people don't understand the magnitude of this situation. It's extremely hard to digest especially for the ex-winners.

You're having your GC already so now it is easy for you to have a big mouth....it's a shame people like you were granted a GC in the first place....only thinking about their own....there's no reason for you to be here and still you got nothing better to do than throwing oil on the fire here....pretty sad for you...

Whose Mole’s are you Bentlebee? Department of State’s? or Those online companies which charge fees to unsuspecting DV players, that are petrified that such a lawsuit might end the DV Program, hence their major source of income?? You are being paid for doing some damage control on their behalf: Aren’t you? It is inconceivable that you would have written 1,332 posts, as of today, without a reasonable motivation. No way!!! Wow...what an emotions....I can believe people have been wrongly made very happy. I was there when my friend received the letter, but we explained to her that getting the NL doesn't mean you will receive the GC. Anything can happen which can cause a person not to get the GC and it could mean other consequenses later on if denied a GC.

In the past I have read post of people who got denied for various reasons and understood that people have horrific stories about visa's.

Just check the E2 visa petition and how many E2 visa holders have to say goodbye to their kids when they reach the age of 21 and can't stay in the US. Very sad and very unreasonable...but so far nothign hasn't been done to change it.

In this case a girl from Russia wrote a thread after the first days of the results coming out and stated that the results were bogus and it wasn't correct.

I thought she was crazy but it seemed she was the smartest out of all of us.

I'm just using common sense and feel that you can't give a NL to 22,000 who got it by mistake and not give it to 14 million others who could have gotten it. To me the department made the right decision but if it was me who was amongst the 22,000 I would be pissed too and disappointed but there is nothing that can be done to make it fair to everybody unless you give the NL to all of them.

I agree with this. In florida maybe of my close friends have gone under E2 route and it's very unfair and a sad thing for them to leave after turning 21 or more if their in college. The US immigration department can be such assholes at times. All friends once turning 21 have to go back to their home country they have not seen for 10 years or maybe more, some are even desperate to stay that they marry their boyfriends/girlfriends even if they are not sure that they are happy with because that is the only way to stay legally...

It really is sad considering the hundreds of thousands petitions the E2 visa has gotten for a reform along with many conferences and meeting after all these years. Most of the people come here legally and fair with lots of money to invest in the US economy but yet get treated like they are illegals, it really is immoral and shameful of the US government to do this. We should be encouraging investors and not discouraging them by giving them harsh rules and kicking them out...

Some E2 visa holders have been here for over 20 years and the minute they sell their business they have to leave the Country within 14 days, while having paid taxes and stimiluted this economy for all these years.

There is so much wrong with legal immigration that 22,000 people can change anything to get the NL they feel they are entitled to. I wish everybody could get it....but Obama wants to consider to legalize illegals while the people coming through the front door are not even servised in the right way!

No Congressman/woman is doing much about the legal immigration and that is why I hope others will not spoil it for the 100,000 who have a chance.

Since the death of the founder of the DV lottery, the chances are only to become slimmer that the lottery will keep existing. There is talk about different things, but that is just talking nothing really set in stone and with elections coming up nobody is burning themself on this issue.
