Hiring contract workers on H-1B visa

I have a small business which is involved in computer application consulting. I want to hire some people on H-1B visa but I want to pay them by the hours they work. If they take vacation or they are not on a project they will not get paid for that time. Is there any provision in the law where I can hire H-1B workers on an hourly basis? Is there a separate type of H-1 visa for this? Or does the law require that H-1B worker should be full time employee? I know several small companies doing this thing.

thanks

Hi, I am in no means an expert, but I wanted to offer some guidance.
It is my understanding that H1-B workers can be put in the "bench" for some time without going out of status, as long as the company still plans to use them.

I have read the information you are looking for, but I have been through many websites and can't remember exactly where I saw it, but I encourage you to keep investigating, and talk to an immigration lawyer. I think it is well worth it to spend 100-300 dollars on getting good advice from an immigration lawyer, specially since you want to do everything legal.
