Hijab in DV2009 Photo, covering ears ok?

Hello All,
I have a question about a Muslim woman who is applying for DV2009. The photo instructions say that a religious headcovering is ok as long as it doesn't cover any facial features. Do the ears count as facial features? Is it ok if they are covered by a hijab in the photo?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Ears can remain covered. Just make sure the face is visible and the hijab is worn tightly over the head so it doesn't cast a shadow over the forehead.

No need to worry at all. Contrary to what one might think, and unlike some European and even Muslim countries, the US is very hijab-friendly! I know someone who wears hijab and submitted a picture wearing hijab for the DV200x lottery. Not only did she win and receive her DV visa, she has never had any issues whatsoever submitting photos for US visas and driver's licenses many times since the early 1990s.
