Low of course, you will be current in the first month or so. If you have the right documents and funding to support yourself in America then I guess welcome to the United States... Early time to say it but meh.

Dont confuse people, that number is in the 12 thousands and depends what country in Africa it can be current next year in february or even another month, but definetly not the first month. check the Visa Bulletin for the last years and you will see.

& among thoses 40-50 selected, only 3 to 6 gets a visa

In the Fiscal year 2011 for DV 2011 your case was current in November.

it doesn't work that way.
Your number is a number that has a chance. lets put it that way. It doesn't matter how many in your country were selected, what matters is if you qualify and if you can prove that you will not be a burden for the state, meaning you either can support yourself or have someone who can do it for you (affidavit of support). What is also important, is that you have a high school diploma or a qualifying job along with no criminal record, no health issues, etc.
Your number for AF is not particularly low but not high either, therefore, i would say you have a chance of being called for an interview sometime in November or December (if it is AF) based on DV 2011 visa bulletin.

So, if we refer to last year, I could get my interview on november this year? That's great.
but for an angola, this year there were just 3 050 entries & concidering past lotteries, about 2% of all angolan participans are selected that mean if we use this for this year, only 62 of us... Looking into that, I guess that to any angolan born participa, any number bellow 50 000 will be low since we are very few participating in it... Since there will be no more than 3 500 visa per countries, even if all angolan won, I still will have an interview since we won't reach the 3 500 limit... so For an angolan one, any number bellow 50 000 is "low" (the rest it is only a matter of interview date) compared to let say a bangaly... Am I correct?

I cant answer this question as I dont know the answer as we do no discuss countries in particular, read the forum and you might find more info.

Well, I have a high school diploma & some college courses, in fact, I just got accepted in a canadian university for september 2011 (that can help, like i tell them i will just re-enroll in an american university), I allready got my criminal record wich is empty & I do not have any health problem, i'm sport built... & yes my number is AF (angola, part of southern africa) but i am living in France so..

2011AF000126xx?
but egypt has lot & lot of entry so that's why, i guess, even 2011AF00050000 for someone of let say comore island will have a quick interview since there are like 1 or 2 winners per years

Thanks jayo2k , you are right , who applied in Egypt 4500
what expected time to receive confirmation KCC and interview date ?

I don't know, from my understanding, it realy depend on how many egypt born were selected before you, you very well could be the first egyptian selected like you could be among the last... More winner per country, then the higher the case number will be... Thoses from countries with a very low amount of selected will have a quick interview... angola for instance has about 40 to 50selected per years.
in 2010 there were 46 selected but only 6 got the visa. So me geting 118xx for an angolan born is relatively low, i could get the interview this year & hopefully will be on time to apply for this winter course at an university

One clarification question..

If let's say my case number was 2012EU00001000 does that mean that I'm the only person who has 1000 number or there might be other people with the same number but different region? For example 2012AF00001000 or 2012AS00001000?
I think the highest number I've seen on this forum was 44***. that would explain a non-existence of really high numbers (5**** and up) because there are only 100000 winners and the same numbers would repeat within different regions.

Nope, no one can get the same digits numbers with different abreviations, I just saw a good informative video by the us homeland security youtube page & the person said that the very first selected get 00000001, the second get 00000002 (the 00000001 will be the very first person to be interviewed followed by the 00000002...) ect, so no one get like for instance 2012AF00045780 & another one 2012AS00045780... that won't happen... I'm once again relieved because that mean my number is quite low.. the only ways i do not get interviewed is if I do not send the form or if like 118xx people with like 5 childrens each get the visa...
concidering this, & by doing some math; fiscal year last 12 months & there are a maximum of 100 000 interviews, that mean about 8334 interviews per month. & with my case number, i should be interviewed on november (early to mid november).

Here is the video

That's not correct.
From what I read in the instruction, CN#1, #2,,,, is for each region.

http://www.usemb-ankara.org.tr/consular/english/schedule_dv.html

(snip)....
2011EU3533
2011EU23799
2011AS21417
2011EU25201
(snip)...
2011AS25201
2011AS28214
2011AS27601
(snip)...

This is the fact. If you follow that site for several months, you would get more identical CNs with different regions.

I totally agree wit jayo2k, as each person selected has a unique case number and then depending wat region they are from their case starts with either AS, AF, EU, OC or SA, so no one will have the same case number but different region.

It is OK whatever one believes in. In the mean time I am talking about facts.

The official video says otherwise... this list could just have a mistake, that happen... the homeland security video says otherwise, just watch that video
