My friends is on a visitor visa and it expires on july 10th 2004. His flight is on july 11th 2004. Does he have to file for extension for one day or does ins have grace days for him to depart. If he leaves on july 11th 2004 will he have any issues at the airport. Any ideas in getting this resolved will be appreciated thanks

Should be no problem at all. There is no exit immigration check whne leaving the US He has to make sure that the airline personnel take his I-94. It is also a good idea to make a photocopy of the I-94 card and retain the boarding pass/ticket for records in case he makes any visits in future and needs to show his timely departure.

thanks for your reply. So incase he want to return to the USA after two years or so will his one day overstay (I94 stamped till 10th july his flight is on the 11th july) cause any issues or does immigration give you a grace period.

I don't think that's a good idea to overstay since there is lot of going on about overstay and b2 visas.
I think he should not do that and should reschedule the flight.
Don't play with INS.
