i add my wife and kids to my visa, and join me in usa later
is my catogry changes from F1 to F3 ?
if my catogry change, it will takes the same long time , how plan to immigrate to the United States with his children?

If you marry before becoming a permanent resident, your category will change from F1 to F3 and it will take a longer time. This change applies whether or not you add them to your green card process. See the visa bulletin, which shows that F3 is taking about 6 years longer than F1: http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5885.html

If you become a permanent resident first and then get married after, you can petition for them as F2A (or F2B for children over 21).

Are you married? If yes, you're in F3. Your spouse and children will be able immigrate along with you, provided your children don't age out and your spouse doesn't have any disqualifying issues.
