Difference between Govt. employees & Private Company employees.

Most of the Govt. employees are "lazy" (from my experience)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Question > Who are the applicants to this department?

Answer > Immigrants//most of them can not speak perfect English/ they are always nervous about this department- whether their cases will be approved or not.
On this point, these employees take chances. They don't care about "approval delay" about these weak, confused, nervous applicants(immigrants).

If these "employees" would deal with Americans (U.S. born citizens),

the situation would be totally different. These employees would not be "lazy", because American applicants would challenge to this department regarding their cases for unnecessary delay.

& it would be a national issue .

Probably true.
But we also need to take into account the fact that not an insignificant number of cases they deal, are fraudulent.

Hi shaky,

As you know my ceremony was in Cadman Plaza this month and I saw those people who changed their name. The procedure was very simple. They were called one by one and got their name change certificate. The officer was telling them to keep this document at a safe place because this is proof of your name. In short these are steps to change name:

1- Request Immigration officer to change your name (at the time of interview)
2- Court allows name change
3- Collect your name change certificate before the Oath ceremony

Keep us posted with your new development.

Good luck.

Most of the govt employees are not "LAZY". We can not generalize it. You can say some employees are "LAZY" and that is true in every department.

Most immigrants are nervous & confuse:
Yes this is true because its a matter of your future when you deal with immigration department. It is quite natural to get nervous or worried because your fate is in the hand of that person reviewing your case. However as JoeF said immigrants should be 'firm' and 'polite' when deal with any govt depatment.
