I wondered if someone can possibly give me advise please. I just found this forum tonight! I am a UK citizen and reside in UK and have a B-2 visitor visa for US. I have two homes in Florida (neither of which is a short-term rental) and I visit every 2-3 months. If I wanted permanent residency i have been told the only way to assure this is by obtaining the GC at a cost of $500k investment. The other methods I have been told involve a lesser amount of $$ but cannot guarantee they will lead to GC (initially a visa). I was also told there are regs regarding employing an amount of US employees, showing profit etc etc. Our intention is to take early retirement out there as we have our own business back here and dont particularly want to have to open our own company out there. The people who owned one of our US houses lived there on their B-2 visas and each 6 months would leave for a week. problem is in our case we have a two year old daughter who will obviosuly need educating out there. Plan is to move out there 2012. Any suggestions on how we can achieve our dream?? The two houses do not constitute a viable investment in order to gain access into the country. Please help.

if you can't go the investment route, then you have other routes - the same ones available to other people: DV lottery (if you are eligible), political asylum, marriage to a US citizen or resident, or immigration through another very close relative (parent, child, sibling) who is a US citizen or resident, immigration through an employer.

Work visas are available as well.

Try Canada.
