My brother passed the tests of English and U.S. history and government on May 12, 2006, but he has not received his Oath Ceremony papers. How long does it take to get your Oath Ceremony papers after the interview?
Usually about a month or a month and a half. Your brother should schedule an Infopass to see what's happened (go to www.uscis.gov for information about Infopass). It is likely that the case is stuck in what is called a name check. Please refrain from calling a thread Help!!!, it makes it look like it is something urgent, when for most people familiar with this forum has been seen again and again and you have waited almost a year to post. For me a Help!!! is when someone has gone to an interview and gets put on removal proceedings for saying the wrong thing, or something similar. Anyway, if it is the case that your brother oath letter is waiting for the name check to complete there are quite a few threads with advice for this situation in the forum.
Huracan. what do u mean by being put on removal proceedings ? how would someone know if he was put on removal proceedings ? do they arrest them during the interview or they inform them during the interview or what ? I mean, can you just be sitting home and going to work and you are on removal proceedings but you don't know about it ?? thanks for reply.
You're definitely making honor to your nickname It was just an example. I don't remember ever clearly reading such a thing, but I thought it could be possible. What I meant is that perhaps someone goes to the interview and there it surfaces that the applicant has committed a major crime (let's say through FBI fingerprint or background check). I think it is possible that in that case the USCIS Immigration officer could hand the applicant to an ICE officer and who knows what else from there. However, as I said, this is just hypothetical case, I don't remember any particular case.
On the other part of your question, this is something I have always wondered. What will happen if an immigration judge puts you on removal proceedings and they don't have your current address. I don't have an answer for that, but I think it happens all the time that people have warrants on them and they might not know it
PS: I just vaguely remember reading about a case where during interview the applicant was handed from the interviewing IO to an ICE officer. However, I don't remember this so well as to assure this. Anyway I hope you're not desperate enough to think you're going to fall under these circumstances
Your brother should have got a notice after his interview. What did it say (there's check boxes next to the various statuses - the best one starts "Congratulations").
what's he doing outside of this forum...get him here. And also make him run for an infopass asap. I hope the brother is doing fine with this long wait..sorry to hear.
