Can debts in home country affect the immigration process in US?

I came to US on a K-1 visa and married my fiance(US citizen). My spouse has applied for the adjustment of status.
Will it affect the process if i have an unclosed debt back home.?

Nope. As long as sponsor meets the minimum income requirement and USCIS is satisfied that applicant will not become a public burden, your debt should not be a problem.

Thank u so much for ur response. But i was worried if the finance agency would contact the Visa office(US) and lodge a complaint.
Will that in anyway affect the process.

Not all. The financial status that is subject to review is your spouse/sponsor in the US and what they check is that she does enough to support you and her tax returns.

Good luck,
