help with lawyers in sofla!

I legally entered the us in '99 as an 11 year old, overstayed my visa. Left and re-entered. Was approached by immigration and taken to boys town for a few months. Mother became my sponsor (even though she was illegal ) and eventually we were both given an order of removal. Well my mother and I decided to wait around a bit longer to leave with extra money and I wound up meeting the guy I dated for years and am now married to. We were planning on leaving the country but no longer plan to.

I feel like this case is pretty standard, however I have been having a hard time trying to find a good lawyer to take care of this. My mother has spent all of her life savings (a little over a 100k) in lawyers that made promises and sometimes wouldn't return our phone calls for months. I am young and dont have that kind of money to waste so I need to find someone good I can stick with.

Anyone can give tips, of any kind. I'd really appreciate it.
 
Also, just put a lawyer on retainer today and he said the money I paid him was so he could run my a number and get my file, and then figure out how to go about my case. He said his secretary called the clerk and once they told her that my case had been closed and another time they told her id received an order. seems very very shady to me.
I really feel like i am being taken advantage of.
