Help with EAD/AP

My RD is 09/2001( EAC 02041) and my H1 expires on Jan 3rd 2003. I have never obtained an EAD before. If I apply for EAD now, how long will I get it for ?
Does anyone has an Idea of how long it takes if I send the application to VSC now??

I sent my EAD application on 9/22. The RD is 9/27 and ND 10/02. It was approved on 10/21. It takes around 1 month. But it may change case by case.

If you apply through Vermont Service center it could take a month. But you can also go to local INS office and get a temporary one, usually on the spot or in much shorter time.

Please mention the City/Town office where they issue EAD;
Most loacal offices have stopped this process; You will be misguiding people by making such a generalized statement.

It is always good to call the Local Office early to verify that they issue EAD; if not you will have to file 90 days before the expiry date at the INS Center where your I485 is pending.
Most Local office issue interim EAD ONLY after the 90 days have expired.

I live in Boston. As I said, I never got an EAD before...

Hi 485sep,

1) If you live in Boston, then you can get the EAD on the same day at Boston, INS.

2) Whether it would cause a problem, I really don't know. INS may think that you are going in for a EAD after a year, does it mean he's changing jobs, does it mean he's lost his job and we need to verify his employment? BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY ALL THESE ARE MY SURMISES AND INS MAY NOT THINK ON THOSE LINES.
