Hello,
I got my GC 9 months ago. My wife's GC was appiled in March 2005. She has EAD Card and finger printing was done long time back.
I need to move into a new Job offer. My lawyer is suggesting to wait until my wife gets her GC. Is that true?
Please help me to understand can I or not?
Thanks for the help and time.

Your lawyer is right. Here is the thing, is the job more important than your wife's GC?

Basically if you moved, you have to change your address with BCIS and they would transfer your wife files to the DO where you move to. And the waiting process might have to wait all over again and the possibillity of BCIS lost your wife's file. I heard it here in this forum before. So if your wife is not going to need her GC right away, you can move.

Well, what if I don't move? The offer that I recieved is located in the same area where I work now. Would then be a problem also?

If you are the primary, then you dont have to worry about your wife's GC. your wife's GC is based on your affidavit of support and she being a dependent of you. So you have nothing to worry. Ignore the lawyer.

You should ask this question in GC through Employment section.

I don't think that it will affect your wife's GC. People can change jobs after EAD. I changed mine when I got my EAD and nothing went wrong. If you are following the rules then there is not need to follow such things.

Thanks Kamrans, Catch and others. I appreciate your time and advise.
What is the wait period for her to get GC? Appiled in March 2005
