Help! What does this mean??

Ladies and G's, I had my appointment with the powers that be yesterday finally. It went well, and only lasted for 20 minutes, although we waited for about 2 hours before we were called.
No crazy questions or anything as the officer saw clearly that our relationship is not fabricated. She was actually polite and all and I didnt even feel like I was in a government facility.

However, when the verdict came, she said she is approving the petition and everything looks good as far as she is concerned but the only thing is that my immigration doctor didnt do a "skin tuberculosis" test (He only did the X-Ray). She said the skin test is a requirement and that maybe the doctor chose not to do the skin test as he already did the X-ray, but he should have put some information in the comments section as to why he didnt feel the need to perform the skin test.

She gave us the petition approval and then also gave us another note and an envelope on where to mail the "sealed" I693 containing the new doctors exam with a skin test for tuberculosis or an explanation as to why the doctor didnt feel the test was necessary.

She said once I mail this, and it is cleared then I should get my approval in the mail.

Has anyone gone through this before >? and if so, will this delay my approval for another bunch of months?

I went ahead and headed straight to the immigration doctor right after the interview, got my skin test taken care of and fedexed the new "sealed" I693 to the local USCIS office. Is there a way to check on the status of things and how long could it take before I get my card?

PS: MAKE SURE YOUR DOCTOR CONDUCTS THE SKIN TEST OR AT LEAST CHECKS IT OFF.
 
Congratulations on your approval.

Looking at the post, doesnt seem like it will be a long time. I have read of other posts here that had some missing documents, which after they submitted, received their approval in the mail soon.

I havent experienced this, but I dont think it would take more than a couple of weeks. Look out for emails, you should receive one soon on the approval, as soon as USCIS receives your fedex :)

how is it possible to have the results of your tb skin test the same day? it usually takes 48-72 hours for the results to be read.

I had to have a chest x-ray instead of a tb skin test because I was under a tight deadline to file my medical exam before the retrogression. nothing about it was mentioned at the interview.

Hi:

With all due respect, I do not think this officer represents the brightest of the interviewing brigade. A chest X-ray, which is what I presume you are referring to, is perfect proof of TB status. In fact, it is more accurate than the skin test in the sense that a skin test can sometimes show a false positive. The X-ray is the confirmatory test used if a skin test shows positive.

Doctors routinely substitute the X-ray test, especially when testing patients from countries where they have had the vaccination, e.g. Japan, many in the UK etc. With these patients, using a skin test would be useless.

I don't know what the doctor's reasoning was for substituting the X-ray test, but it should not have resulted in any problems.

that's exactly why I opted for x-rays instead of skin test. After BCG shots a lot of people show false positives, and I didn't want to take my chances. The immgiration officer didn't have any questions.

You know, when I went back to the Doctor's, they shared the same sentiment as you. They said these folks at immigration don't have it together at all. On my original I-693, it showed I took the X-Ray, she (the immigration officer) even pointed out that my chest X-Ray was fine. The only thing she said was that there needed to be some type of comment stating why the X-Ray test was considered sufficient. I would think the during the "pre-screening" at the national benefits center they would have said something. Hate delays, but she mentioned that my FBI background check and Biometrics have been completed and everything on that end is fine. Just this darn medical.
 
Congrats. While I dont know the answer for your question, since you were on H1 visa, at the time of AOS interview what questions were asked? Did you have to get a letter from your employer? Did you have to take pay stubs? What else did you do? Please share your thoughts

Hi:

Well, she just didn't know what she was talking about. If the X-ray test was cleared, the skin test would be clear too. An applicant has the right to request an X-ray test as a replacement - the reason it is not given upfront is because it is more expensive. Any immigration attorney would have pointed that out to her.

Note that some countries have abandoned the skin test for their immigration medical purposes, and now REQUIRE the X-ray test of new immigrants.
