help! Wanna go home after 4 1/2 yrs

I havn\'t come back to home country for 4 1/2 years. Now
I just got my I-485 receipt. I don\'t know anything
about AP.

Does anyone know:
1) How long it takes? (California Center and I plan to go back on July-August by myself)
2) Can I apply by myself (No lawyer)
4) Do I need some document from my company when I am traveling?
5) Is it safe to return US with a AP? because it is said a person can be refused even with a AP sometimes?

One of my friends suggested that I should wait for GC approval. He said it is dangerous to go back now. My husband is here in US.

Please let me know what is your opinions. Thanks a lot!
 
This is the perfect oppurtunity...

1) All Aps are going fast . Might get it in 30 -90 days. If it is more than 90 days you can go to the nearest SUb or District office and get an emergency AP.

That is the form.
4) No need of any documents from employer. If you are on H1, It is also advisable to file for EAD (just to cover all bases). For AP, you need to complete this form, have 2 ADIT style photos, check, I485 receipt copy and a letter saying why you want to go (cite any legitimate reason)
5) AP is the best document that can allow somebody without much questioning. You will be taken away to check your 485 applications. Even when mistakes were made about the receipt numbers in the AP , people have been let in.

"taken away to check your 485 applications"? Will they check the 485 applications when I return to US with AP?

Yes. using your 485 receipt number in AP. No big deal.

In many POEs Parolees are taken to a separate office. That is all.

Since I plan to do it by myself, your advice is really helpful.

I downloaded the I-131 form. It looks easy, however, may I ask you two more questions?

1) The letter of reasons going back home, what it should be? like parent birthdays or wedding maybe? Is visting parents good enough?

2) The length of leaving. I am planning go back for 3 weeks. Should I make it a little bit longer like one month?

2. You can write anything. AP is given for either 1 visit or 1 year. Make sure that you check the multiple entry box.
 
Here is another one...not gone for the past 5 1/2 years..am on H-1B

So waiting for the 485. Jaxen do you think with the current speed the app can be completed and approved in 8-9 months
