I have applied for a duplicate passport in lieu of a damaged one from Indian Consulate. Consul officials told me that they would retain the old passport when they issue me the new one. So in effect I will have only a blank new passport.
On my old passport I have a H1 visa which is expired more than a year ago. I have H1 extension valid till 2003. I have never travelled out of the country after getting the extension. I also have my EAD and AP.
I am planning to travel to India and I have following issues.
1. Would the indian immigration guys create a problem since I\'ll not have any entry / exit stamps on the new passport.
2. Would I be able to get a new H1 on my passport using the extension approval notice through drop box?
3. If I do not get a H1 stamp on my new passport, would I be able to re-enter on AP eventhough there is no record on my new passport?
