Help! Travel after filing I-485 by mistake

I have been reading this forum for a while and just realized I made a big mistake.

I am a J-1 visa holder without HRR and married to a USC. We applied for my GC at the end of September, and right after we filed I-485, I-130, I-795, and I-131, we traveled to Mexico for a week. I entered the US with my J-1 visa without any problem. Did I just inadvertently cancel my GC application? I had FP on Oct 13 after we returned from Mexico on Oct 9. The person who took my FP said that I should expect to get EAD in 30 days. But I didn't get any LUD after my FP.

I really don't know what to expect now. Please give me some advice.

how to find out if my case is abandoned

I just want to find out if my application has been abandoned or not. The case status has not been changed since Oct 4 (I came back from Mexico on Oct 9). Would it be changed soon if my application is canceled? If it is canceled, I would like to start the application again as soon as possible... Any advice would be appreciated!!

You may get into issue if someone looks into your travel record closely. You need to contact a good immigration attorney and get his/her opinion.

As far as I know, you will need “Advance parole” to travel outside US (except for people on H1 visa), if you have pending I-485 with USCIS.

starting over

I talked to an immigration attorney, and he told me that there will be a good chance that my application will be rejected at the interview because they will ask if I have left the country during the processing of the case. He suggested to start it over again. Could anyone give advice on how to cancel my pending application and start a new one? I'm just in a state of shock right now.

Most likely it will be rejected. Look up online how can you cancel and then start all over again. Down-point is that u'll have to pay twice :(. Case status online isn't accurate.
