Help! Transfering H1

Hello,

I am in a strange situation. I did my Masters in US and while I am about to complete my Practical Training I was interviewed for a full time position. I got to know that I am selected to that position. But they will take some time to send me offer letter. So I got a consulting job and applied for H1B Visa which was approved. Now I got offer letter and want to join that company.
Now since I have to transfer my H1B, do I need to get my Passport stamped before applying for Transfer?
If not, is it fine if i apply for transfer with in a month after i got my first H1B?
When can I join second company? I noticed that at some places it was mentioned that I can join as soon as second company applies for H1B transfer. But at some other place it was mentioned I need to wait for my receipt number?

Please help me!
 
Receipt notice from BCIS is an official evidence showing that the company applied H-1B transfer for you.
You can join the second company as long as you get the receipt notice.
