Hi there, my first post here. I am pretty new to the whole green card process. anyway I went through the site and also through a bunch of threads but I didnt see the following question answered.

Abt me:

Completed masters in CS in 2005. got my H1B approved september 2006 been working since then and am planning to start the green card process. based on the Info I read

1. First stage is the DOL step
2. The 1-140 step
3. AOS

is that correct??

Also can someone elucidate what the timeliness for each of those steps are ? Also what category would I fall under, I would guess EB2 but based on a bunch of threads looks like I would fall under EB3 based on insistence from the lawyer.

I hope to spend many more days/hrs reading through all the information and hopefully be able to contribute my experiences as well!!!!Cheers

Thanks

It depends DOL takes 3 to 21 days, if your attorney mess it up then takes for ever.

You will fall under any category as you think, your job offer will fall under category. eb2 ETC DEPENDS ON THE JOB OFFER NOT DEPENDS ON YOUR mASTER OR DOCTORATE DEGREE.
Even you have PhD in CS and your job offer is a programmer with 2/3 yrs exp , you fall under EB3 category only.

I hope to spend many more days/hrs reading through all the information and hopefully be able to contribute my experiences as well!!!!Cheers
