My EAD expires in the next two days ..... My ignorance of not knowing EAD has to be applied 3-4 months in advance ... I had applied for EAD renewal 30 days back ...I don't have the option of staying out of work ... company would prefer laying me off instead of going through the payroll juggling ….I am from VSC center …any inputs to help me would be appreciated. the local ins may not accept your case becaz they'll consider only if your ead has not been approved after 90 days of filing.
I saw this on of the boards discussion. But consult your lawyer and other GC gurus. please post a new thread after you got the answer. This is an important matter.

Any Idea what is INS expecting such candidates to do in this case? becaz the renewal application is pending (but < than 60 - 90 days) ....Are there any recommendation by INS in this cases ...posted by INS. ( I know there are posting suggesting work only if EAD approved … I understand this hold true/makes sense for fresh EAD …. But renewal EAD ? #*@ …. I don’t know which big company will listen to the suggestion of removing the candidate from payroll and adding them back in …absolutely ridiculous!!!! (Especially in this economy!) . This whole thing is a big circus …with hardly any common sense anywhere!
I don’t know whether EAD renewal application pending would be similar to 485 applications -- Legal until decision is made regarding the case.

I was in a similar situation, but luckily the ead got approved the same day the old one expired. Like one of the people said, there is
no logic or common sense attached to the process or the employment conditions. The best shot is obviously to go to the local INS office and see if they can issue one right away. Good luck!

Does Boston INS accept EAD renewals .....
Does Boston INS accept EAD renewals < than 90 days ...... my local INS office is hartford CT and they just accept applications .... wondering if going to the Boston office will be of any help ..... anyone/friends with similar experience ?

I don't think you can go to any INS office to get EAD renewed. You have to go to your local office.

1. Try local INS
2. Take a vacation as long as possible after current one expires
3. Continue to work without alerting your company HR about the expiration. Your employer may not ask if you don't tell them. Then your renewal may be dated back.

ND Jan 06. It just got approved yesterday, according to the voice message. I am off the payroll these days.
Now to your question, try calling the INS office; explain your circumstances to the IIO , sometimes they can expedite. Note here to call the service center not the national INS office(800 number). Also if your 485 date is in Nov or Dec 01 should also check on that too.
I had been to the local INS office(Newark), they did not agree for the interim.

trust2003 ... I was in the same situation. I had applied for my EAD renewal the second week of Nov. and my EAD was expiring on 3rd Jan 2003. I called them and was told by the officer there is a delay from the mailroom to the computer. She also mentioned I will not go out of status and the new EAD will be back dated. My lawer had told me the samething. I haven't received my EAD yet..but received the receipt 3 weeks back. Hope this helps. Also, I haven't mentioned to my employer that my EAD has expired.
