Help pls! J1 extension after favorable recommendation

Hello everyone,

I am corrently in the process of J-1 waiver. The situation is that DOS received No Objection letter on May 18th, but has not yet issued me Favorable Recommendation. My current DS-2019 will expire in 2 months, I need to get it extended so that I won't be out of status when I am waiting for the USCIS final approval.

Does anyone know if I can still extend my current J-1 after the Favorable Recommendation is issued?

If I can not extend my current J-1, then what should I do after it expires as it will take as long as 4 months for USCIS to issue the final approval?

Hi,

I have recently got the letter from DOS issuing the favarable recommendation. I have also got mail from my Office of International Education that my J-1 cannot be extended further as DOS issued a Favorable recommendation.

As for a I know you can still extend, when your case is pending.
