Hello All,

I am about to apply for my citizenship. I used to work full time for a company before but now I do IT consulting on corp-corp basis. I formed my own corporation with my home address and I am an employee of that corporation.

Will there be any problem in getting citizenship if I work for my own company? I am planning to write my company's name and adress (which is my home address) as the current employer. I can show all W-2's, tax returns etc.

I got my GC on employment basis and I worked for 3.5 years for the sponsoring employer after getting the GC.

Best Regards

Comments from anyone in similar situation will be helpful. I am sure there will be some similar cases especially in IT consulting side.

I dont have similar experience, but I believe you are ok. No problem, if you can show everything well documented.

The same here I don't have any experience in this situation but I don't see why there would be a problem.
As long as you got all of you documentation you shouldn't worry.
Actually when I had my Oath Ceremony and ontop of the USCIS Officer saying our names and our country we were from she also said our occupation and there were a few who owned their own company. For example there was a lady that had her own restaurant and another one that had her own deli.

Don't sweat it.

Once you are byond the GC, they don't really care. I do IT consulting for the past 7 years on my own, W-2, 1099, corp-to-corp and those changes are just normal.

It helps that you worked for your sponsering company for 3.x years. Other than that corp to corp should have NO effect on your application.

Friends,

Immediately after got green card, I went to other employer.
IS it creat any pblm @ citizenship interview?
At interview time, IO officer ask for all offer letters before GC & later?
my concern is, what is the severity of employment history @ interview time?
IO dig more on that like to see all w2's, emplyer address etc..?

Thanx..

Ususally this is not a problem. I have not heard IO asking about proving employment history etc (There may be exceptions but not very common) A friend of mine quit job a week after GC and had no problems with citizenship.

IMO, You should be fine.
