I got this one from EAD discussion..

"Newark is one of the four offices in USA that doesnt issue iterim EAD\'s, but Cherry Hills does it. I talked to someone two months ago who went there instead of Newark and got it luckily from there because iio didnt ask for the county and somehow didnt care he was without appointment.

I also called lawyer to ask him that question and he said in his 10 years of practice in nj he never heard of anyone getting interim EAD in Newark office by walk-in without appointment.

I am planning to go to Cherry Hill tomorrow for EAD. My case is I want to apply for EAD (first time). Can you help me here what are the required documents I\'ve to carry with me. Do I need to get the MO or Personal Check will be fine? I know I am just taking a chance. Can any one help me here. Thanks

Hi:

I-485 receipt notice, 765 filled form, signature card (if u don\'t have one, get it at Cherry Hill), $100 check, passport (just in case)

maald can the $100 check..

maald can the $100 check be a personal check? or it has to be a DD or MO? Thanks
 
OK but take MO as well

Instructions say check or MO, they don\'t clarify on whether it could be a personal check? Based on this forum updates,it could be ok. But you are better off to get an MO also(just in case)in addition to carrying personal check.

Forgot to mention earlier, u need 2 photos (ADIT style), I-94 as well

Boston INS office acceptd walk-ins

I came to know from a friend of mine, who had to renew his EAD twice after initially getting it from VSC, that he just walked into Boston INS office and got the EAD renewal done in no time on the same day.

But my lawyer said that in case of Newark, NJ, you need to get an appointment which may be two months later and then only EAD extensions are issued.

Has anyone got EAD extended at Newark, NJ, without prior appointmentt?

Can one go to Cherry Hill, NJ, office without appointment and get theEADD extended? Is there one more case?

Another question: I got my EAD from VSC. My H1-B is there till Oct 2003. Working for the same company. Do I need to get my EAD extended or can I continue to work on H1-B?
 
OK.. Puru_r and maald.. here is the deal.

I went to Cherry Hill this morning around 8:30 AM.. There were not a lot of people. After our number is called we went to the counter and told him we want to apply for EAD. So he reviewed our application and made a copy of it and gave us the copies and said they will send an appointment when to appear. I asked him normally how long does it take to get an appointment.. he said about a week. keeping fingers crossed.. Good luck to all you guys out there and special thanks for all who wants to help others.

KoolG keep us posted when you get your appointment. I have a renewal case, as my EAD expires Apr 27th. Since my case ND is Mar 30\'01,
I am trying to save 100 bucks.
Your experience will be useful.
Was your case Employment based ?

Actually EAD is for my wife and first time. Mine is primary and yes mine is employment based.

koolG, thx for posting. What if we mail to cherryhill itself and get appointment 1week later (assuming 1week is normal time)?? wish they do it saturdays too and 1 visit to cherryhill less.!

Anyways, good luck and hope to hear once u get it. Mine is sent out VSc anyway for now.

Ice Cool: My mailing address is in Holmdel.. but I am currently living in Philly.. Either way technically my case don\'t come under Cherry Hill..

maald: I don\'t see any reason you may not get an appointment in case of mailing to cherryhill. You can try.. Good luck..

dzou: You can not get signature card online. Some people say it is not required any more. Please confirm before hand.

But to me it sounds like you will receive an appointment letter in a week\'s time with an appointment date mentioned in it.

Please post your appointment date whenever you receive the letter.
