Help- No interview letter for a year

I sent my N400 in January 2003 to the California Service Center, and received the priority date of Feb. 5, 2003.

I was fingerprinted in Oakland, CA on April 5, 2003. I have not heard any news from USCIS since then. According to the USCIS website, my local district office (San Francisco) is currently processing applications filed in April 2003.

I have called the toll-free number twice to have them do a status caheck on my file. No response yet. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Did you change your address?. Its possible, your mail may have bounced back. Though naturalization guide says that mail get forwarded but there are few postings here suggest that mail do bounce back to USCIS

No I have not changed address.

I requested a status check more than two months ago. Seems like they never respond to these requests!

They have also not made any change in my online case status for almost a year now. I thought that they would at least show that I had my fingerprinting done.

Also, has your case status disappeared from the online system. If it hasnt yet disappeared, then its quite likely the case is still being processed.

don't worry

Hi Sundut

I wouldn't worry...in many cases, the interviews are being processed only 12-14 months after PD.

I would not trust the processing times on the website. New York City says Nov 2002 but they are actually processing Feb 2003. In some other threads on this forum, a district office said October 2003, but were actually processing 2002 cases.

As mgh2001 mentioned, you should keep checking your case status online...when it disappears, you can expect your interview letter in a few weeks...

Once you get your interview letter, they give you about 1-3 months to prepare for your interview...

Thanks. I will keep you posted about the case.

One more question. My online case status has not changed since priority date. I thought it would change to reflect fingerprinting.

Sundat,

If your online message has still not disappeared it means your case is not transferred to the District office yet. In Oakland office normally you get interview letter after 5 to 6 months after finger printing is done. My finger prints were done in first week of July in Oakland, and I had my interview in the first week of Jan 2004. I see some problem in your case. My priority date was May 2003.

hbk1hbk,

Congratulations! Seems like your case moved fairly quickly. Have you been assigned an oath date yet?

For my case, I will approach my congresswoman's office and see if they can help me getting information about the case status.
