I applied my I-485 in Jan 2002 and I received my AP,EAD. My H-1B will be expired in Jun 2002. My company wants to put me on EAD instead of extending my H-1b. Is it a good idea. What are the drawbacks staying on EAD and AP. Gurus please suggest.
Thanks

Oh my god..

Did you search the archives. There are plenty of discussion on this.
The only downside is that you have to use AP for travel and if 485 is rejected you have to leave the country.
I don\'t think you have any other option other than to comply what your employer says in this situation.

There is nothing wrong in using EAD. If you are not interested

in using it why you applied in the first place? The only drawback I can see is you have to use AP for travel (which is valid for one year and for multiple entries). EAD is also valid for only one year. If I was an employer, I would ask the same thing, why should the company waste $$$ on H1-B1 extension, specially during this period.
