I am a F1 and my OPT ends this May. I have not found a job yet. I want to transfer to F2. My wife is a F1 student now and her I-20 ends in this August. There are some complications in my situation. Although my wife is a F1 student, she has found a job and now she is on her OPT (Mar/05 to Mar/06). I am wondering if my F2 application will be denied. Also my wife is about to apply H1 after April 1st, and I want also get a H4.
Dilemma:
My opt ends this May, I have to get a F2 on my wife.
Before the approval of F2, I need to apply H4 which starts on April 1st.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

since you have time till may, you can apply for H4 at the same time as your wife applies for H1. IN any case, you can apply for F-2 just before your F-1 status ends. Later you can apply to change your status to H4.

My wife is going to apply H-1 and the starting date of H-1 would be Oct. 1st. Being said above, her I-20 ends this August (the graduation date), and her OPT is from this March to next March. I (my OPT ends this May) will, however, transfer to F2 on my wife’s F1 (which has graduation date this August). My wife also can change the graduation date to this December. Is this change of graduation date necessarily helpful to my F2 application, or we just keep her I-20 as is and go ahead apply my F2 on that. How long does it take to apply F2 after submitting application to USCIS. Is it a trouble (for such a short time) for me to apply F2 on my wife’s F1, since her F1 is only four months left (now to this August)
