Help needed on I-485 filing (EB1-EA)

Hello Friends,
After your suggestions, I am decided to file my I485 petition myself (without attorney-already spent lots of money) and then I will file my wife petition when she will be back from India in January. I desparately need your advice before I proceed. Your suggestions are very imporatnt to me as I am filing without attorney.

1)What is A#, where to get it?
2)If I will file my wife peition letter in January-2007, will USCIS keep mine and her petition together?
3)Will I submit I140 approval notice and I485 receipt notice when I file her petition?
4)Is there any negative impact if I file her petition separately (I mean, not with me)?
5)Suppose (not likely will happen) my I485 got approved before I file her petition is there any negative impact on her petition?

It should be there on your receipt notices.........if not leave it blank.

I -485 is processed independently after filling...........mainly they see major beneficairy's application first and then derivative...once you get ur receipt notice attach that with ur wife's .

yes also....I-140 receipt notice!!

I guess no!

when you submit here application in the cover letter you must give expaination why you are filling her's later.........as it is in I-485 application u explain her visit ..................it will not have negative impact especially you are already married (marriage certificate is important)...............

Thank you so much eb1doc. I was hoping to get your response first. I am glad that I got all my answers from you. I will keep on posting if get any hurdle.
 
I think if your application gets approved before you file hers, then you can no longer file hers. You might want to double check that.
 
2006hunter.....i filed my I485/765/131 for both me and my wife.... two weeks back......i will try to get the checklist and post it in 2-3 days...

One more question - Do anybody has any idea how long is the Medical Examination report (I-693 form) valid?? Because I have already finished my part. Should I go again for medical examination if I will apply my I485 in January-2007??

six months for I 693 !!
i spoke with university lawyer today about ur sitautaion she said u can file...........but its good to take multiple opinion!!!!
Leviatan's points are valid to consider!!!
my suggestion will be ready and to watch buletin regularly as by chance if you get indication that its not going to be current anymore then you can submit urs........................

My wife is in H4 now. Still thinking what to do?? :confused:
 
You know H4 wifes are spoilt! In India till Jan? That is one heck of a vacation! :p

Nowadays some of the cases are getting approved in 2-3 months. You'll have to use your best judgement. It's your call.

Do you have any idea, how long does it take now to get I485 approved from TSC?? I think now NC sucks??

Think about this.

If your I-485 is approved before she filed hers, what would be her immigration status? If she is on H4 now, she will not be on H4 anymore. If she is overseas, on what status can she enter?

Also you need to find out how long it will take her GC application sponsored by you (permanent resident). US citizen sponsored case takes very little time. I guess her case will be family sponsored if yours is approved before you.

Think about these issues before you take action.

I know two of my labmates filed

1. NSC concurrent in MAY 2006 -- Still pending
2. TSC concurrent in May 2006-- Got approval last month

so moral is if u are current then TSC is fast

Looks like TSC taking at least 3-4 months. If I apply around next month, then January will be fine. What do you think??
