Hello Guys,

I need some information regarding B2 visa, my mother-in law who is in US from past 5 months, and I am planning to extend her stay for another 4 months. She got 10 yrs visa. She visited once before, and this time I want to extend her stay, the reason being she is on medication and no body able to take care of her if she goes now to India.

My question is, is the reason for "Medication" would be strong reason to get her extension? And also I read somewhere that if you get denial of extension then you lose 10 yrs visa, is that correct?

I am planning to apply for my citizenship, and wants to sponsor her GC, somebody told me that if the parents are here and if you apply GC, then they get faster, Is that true??

Please help.

Thanks

Not even remotely.

Correct.

You cannot sponsor your mother-in-law for a GC.

Your MIL appears to be a risk for requiring Medicaid in the US. She and her child should immediately return to her home country where she qualifies to receive care. The US hads too many of its own citizens to care for.

Her extension should be denied.

Thank you for your responses. I was told by one of my friends that my wife (US Citizen)can sponsor her mother(my mother-in law) for GC. I hope thats correct.
And also what could be best reason for extending her visa?

I got a letter from doctors office about the medication she is taking, and she needs to visit every 6 weeks, does it qualify for her extension reason??

Thanks for quick reply. Last time when my mother visited me, I extended her stay for 6 more months. I gave a reason that she could not visit all the places in US because of Hurricanes we had in florida.
Does the reason of not able to visit places works because of illness?

In my personal opinion, EOS is the most abused provision amongst the immigration provisions. 99% of the reasons presented can be addressed by a better timed initial entry. You are the one submitting the I-539 here. You make the call.
