Help! Name spelling problem!

Hi

I got a letter for my AOS interview on August 11th in Phoenix, so now I'm assembling my documents. I discovered one little problem - the spelling on my wife's certified birth certificate is slightly different than she spells it now (Stacy on birth certificate, Stacey now). She's a USC and is sponsering me. The middle name is the same, and all her other id (driver's license, social, even her hospital birth certificate) all say Stacey.

She says that her dad made a spelling mistake when he sent in the paperwork to the state after she was born.

Do you think this will cause a problem? Or can we just explain the mix up? We're going to try to have it changed, I'm worried that it won't get changed by August 11th. I have no idea how understanding they will be.

me neither, since from what I've read so far in this forum about interview experiences, the only sure thing is, that what's ok with one Officer might be not ok with another even in the same DO.

In our interview, which lasted 20 minutes and went smooth, 10 minutes alone were consumed by a discussion the Officer and my wife had about her last name. After her divorce she officially and legally picked a double name - her maiden name and her ex husbands - because of their mutual kids. But everytime she signs something she only writes her maiden name. Eventually the Officer said, it didn't bother him he was just curious but he might as well could have rejected the approval.

I tend to think also in your case it all depends on luck. If everything else is fine you'd be fine most likely. But you can't rely on that hope alone.
