Help me out - OPT to H1B

Hey Everyone,
I completed my Masters in Computer Science and Engineering in May 2005 , applied for H1B through a consultant in Masters Quota in October and got it approved with a start date of March 1 2006 , but currently working on OPT
(for the same consultant) and I have the pay stubs for the last 4 months.
Now, I have been offered a full time position in a company and they are willing to transfer my H1
The question I have is .
Though my H1B has been approved from March 1 2006 , will i be eligible for filing a transfer with the new employer? .. I have a copy of the approved I-797 ... but because the approval is of a later date , is the transfter possible ?

"Transfer" is very confusing term. It sounds like porting H1 from one employer to another, which is not correct understanding. Every "transfer" is new petition, and you can file new petition with new employer regardless of the fact you are already working for H1 employer, or not yet working for H1 employer.
