Hi Gurus,

Our EADs expire on Feb 20, 2005, is it ok to file renewal now? 'coz we'll be moving during Jan '05, so I want to get it over with. Also, will CIS renew from Feb 2005 onwards or will there be any overlap? Please advice.

Thanks,

Rosaly

It's perfectly OK to file EAD renewals well in advance. For my 3 EAD I applied almost 5 1/2 months in advance. But if they don't renew back to back you'll lose a couple of months of validity.

It is up to you. Why don't you file it now? If you don't file for a renewal EAD and don't receive your new EAD after your current EAD expires, you will not work after your EAD expires (until you get your renewal EAD) unless you don't use your current EAD and you are still on your valid H1 with your company that sponsors you H1.

After you file your renewal EAD application, you can still call USCIS that you move and you tell them to update your address. (Make sure to change your address at the post office so they can forward your mails to you.) If you don't receive it for more than 90 days, you will go to the local office to get your Interim EAD.

Hope this helps.

It is advised that application for EAD should be filed at least 100 days prior to expiry. In case EAD processing takes extra time after 90 days you will eligible to receive an Interim EAD by going to a local office.
