Hi All,
Though this is place for 485, my wife's H-4 is still relating to I-485, so please allow me post my question about H-4 here.
I am 485 pending (RD: Apr/2003) and working on H-1 (valid to Oct/15/2005), My wife is studying in Canada and got her H-4 last Dec. This Jan she came to US to submit her 485 case, and after that she went back to Canada to continue study.
My question is that: if she will come to US this Apr again, she needs apply a new H-4 visa again? or she can directly fly to US?
(on her H-4 visa stamp it displays
Entries:
1

..... PED 15OCT2005
...
)
Does the "PED 15OCT2005" means she can come to US multiple times before Oct/15/2005? If it is, what does the "Entries 1" mean?

Looking forward to you guy's reply and greatly appreciate that!

For Multiple entries, it shows "M" for Entries field. I don't know how you can convert this to multiple entries visa. Can anyone help Hai?

The Entries section will show "M" if it is a multiple entry visa.

PED means "Petition Expiry Date" and indicates the expiry date of your H1B. It should be used by the officer at the port of entry, when stamping the "Admitted Until" date on the I-94.

The entry type of a visa is determined by the consulate issuing the visa using the "reciprocity" principle. The State Department will give you the same type of visa (number of entries, length of the visa etc.) that a US Citizen is going to get if he/she applies for a similar type if visa in your country.

It looks like your wife's current visa is a single entry and she will need to apply for a new H4 at the US consulate in Canada. The reciprocity rules change all the time, I believe there is a State Department publication which lists the rules by country (might be available on http://www.state.gov). You can check your country and see if next time it would be possible to apply for a multiple entry visa.

Also for some countries both single and multiple entry visas are available for a different fee.

hlin4,

Unfortunately, it seems like her H4 is single entry. (mostly h1 and H4 are multiple entry though). If she came to US on 2004 January, her visa may be invalid for the next time. Since you have a valid H1 until 2005, she can go the US consulate and get her H4 stmaped again.

Is Chinese fine to get multiple H-4?

Thanks a lot, guys.
Accourding to what you said, I decide to let my wife to apply H-4 Multiple Visa again.

Like what gingibi said, maybe some country's citizen cannot get Multiple visa. I cannot find out this from http://www.state.gov.

gingibi, or everyone else, do you know that Chinese citizen is eligible to get H-4 Multiple?

Thanks a lot.

gingbi,
Thank you very much.

But I don't understand this form about H-4 Visa for China,

Visa Classification Fee No of Applications Validity Period
H-4 NONE ONE 3 MONTHS

Does this mean my wife can apply Mulitple H-4 as a Chinese Citizen?

Looking forward to your reply and greatly appreciate your kind help.
