I received letter today and my Interview is scheduled on May'22, but I am perminent resident since May'24 2002. That means, I am short of two days. Is it going to be any issue? Any suggestions?

Here I have two options, 1) Go and attend the interview on 22nd
or 2) Ask for reschedule.

I applied in 2nd week of March based on 90 day's prior to 5 year rule.

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Suggest to #1. Go to interview. You can only become citizen during oath, not interview, so it should not be a problem to have your interview. But, if your concern is that you won't be able to have the same day oath, then true - they won't be able to administer oath until 2 days later. But I do not know if your DO even administers the same day oaths and if that is your concern.

No need to worry at all. Interview was scheduled by USCIS and they have your entire immigration file. You have not mentioned about your District Office, most of the DOs schedule Oath Ceremonies after your N-400 approval, which is couple of weeks after the interview. You are absolutely file... siimple choice and the only option (1) go for the interview and all the best....

New Gcuser,

Which District Office do you belong to, if you do not mind sharing. This is an amazing story, to get an interview (not just IL) withing 88 days of filing N-400! Do you know if the Oath Ceremony can be the same day in your DO?

My interview was a week before my 3 year PR was up. Doesn't matter really at all, the only thing is if they do same day oaths you will not be able to do that. You will have to wait for the oath letter to be sent to you instead. That's the only thing.

You do not want to reschedual you appointment. You could be waiting a very long time to get another interview...

Dont worry

Our 5 year anniversary was on March 29th. Interview was on March 13th. My husband and me attened the interview. We thought our oath will be scheduled after March 29th. But to our very pleasant surprise, we passed the interview and had our oath on March 13th. I have then applied for SSN, Passport and OCI.

This issue never came up. My husband and me both had different IO's. I have heard more than one such case. We applied 88 days before 5 year mark. But received had our interview scheduled with 70 days of PD.

IL: 03-13-2007 - same day oath

Why the hell did I move out from Atlanta - a USCIS paradise, into a Philadelphia nightmare?! In Atlanta, one can be a citizen before his/her residency is met, here in Philadelphia you can still be in limbo even after the Oath given USCIS now started apparently loosing people's naturalization certificates after inviting them to ceremonies!!!

Thanks Everyone!!!!

Once again, Thanks for everyone. My dates are posted on the other thread too. My local USCIS office is Manchester, NH. Here are my details.

I sent my N-400 to Vermont on 3/11.
Receied by INS -> 03/13/2007
Checks Cashed -> 03/18/2007
Received Notice -> 03/29/2007(RDate:3/15, PDate:3/15, NDate:3/23)
Recd FP Notice -> 3/30,
FP Schd on 4/9 (Done on 4/9 as well)
IL Received 4/21
IV Date -> 5/22.

I think, Oath is not going to be the same day in Manchester, NH. If any one from NH, please post your interview and oath experience.

Thanks

There is a slight chance that....

I do not want you to get too excited, but there is a small small chance that you may make it for same day Oath after passing the N-400 interview. 99% of the time, because you will not have completed the 5 year Anniv. period, the I/O will schedule you for the Oath for a different date. But I have seen two cases where a forum members did get the Same Day Oath and bacame US Citizens before completing 5 years. Now, this might have been some exception or an oversight from USCIS, but it did happen and thought I would just mention it to you.
