Both of my kids' (11 & 5) US Passports expire in the next 2 months. Due to my brother-in-law's wedding in April, which we didn't predict, we have to "Expedite" for the new US passport. Once we get the new passports, I was wondering if we need to get the current Indian Visa (unlimited/multiple) for both of them transferred to the new US passport? Travisa and Indianembassy.org say 'is NOT mandatory; but HIGHLY recommended' to transfer the visa to the new US passport.
High risk, low risk, no risk? What do you think?
Any experiences you may share is really appreciated!

They have OCIs, too. But, unfortunately, for ages 20 and under, you have to apply for brand new OCI cards if you acquire a new passport.

Looks like your kids have OCI visas in their passport. Regulations require kids to get a new OCI whenever they get new passports but it is not clear if Indian immigration officials enforce this strictly. Most likely you will be allowed in with a warning or something. Make sure to carry old passports with OCI visa stickers AND the blue OCI books.
Once you return from your trip, apply for OCI transfer.

You can try to expedite OCI update, but do no handover passports until it is approved in case they get stuck and stop your travel.
India immigration can create an issue for you, but worst case they will give them a landing visa valid for 3 days / 14 days.
