Help I am confused

I recently got laid off and got active trying to pursure status of my case. I have applied under NIW and my I-485 receipt date is 01/24/2001. I have some very wierd messages online status check. mY wifes message says
On January 8, 2003, the document we made based on the approval or registration of this case was mailed directly to the person to whom issued
She is my dependant and my message says
Your I485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status was received on January 24, 2001. We mailed you a receipt with information about processing. It is taking between 990 and 999 days for us to process this kind of case. We will mail you a decision as soon as processing is complete
Funny thing both me and my wife got finger printed for second time again on 01/22/03. Can some please make some sense of these messssages and tell me what is going on

From TSc it is impossible to understand any thing, but case looks like this.
a) Entry for your FP has not been done yet. Probably you need to call them at 800 number. Do not mention layoff story.
b) Your wife's FP has been recognized by numbheads, but not properly. Call them for this case as well.

I will suggest you to call by yourself, call through your lawyer and also send a mail through lawyer. Please mention that this is an old pending case blah blah.

In the mean time try to get a letter from your employer that they may hire you once your GC is approved. also try to get a job in the same category in similar area.

My guess is that my wifes case was approved initially in jan 03 and then they realized that my fp was no good so they send a notice for repeat fp for both of us and did not bother to change online message on my wifes case
