Help - H4 Appointment & H4 extension

I am going to get married in November.

1) My fiancee just applied for the passport. But I want to fix the appointment with consultate now to avoid delay. Can I fix the appointment without her passport?

2) My company applied for the H1B extension in July. My current H1B is valid upto jan 2004. If I fix the appointment for getting H4 with my current H1B and if I receive my new H1B before the appointment date, can i apply using my new H1B without cancelling this appointment?

Starting date for the new H1B will be Jan 4. If I use the new H1B, what will be the starting date for H4?

If get H4 using my current H1B (valid up to Jan 2004), I need to extened H4. Is there any timelimit to apply for H4 extension?

---- No, she should get passport and marry her then take the appointment, having passport does not give any privilege for Appointments for H4 visa appointment. The person has to be qualified for that kind of Visa status and should be married to H1 holder for H4,

---- Once your wife enter US she will get I-94 till Jan 2004 only, you should apply her H4 extension with BCIS through Form I-539 and the extension papers should reach BCIS service center before her I-94 expires. To be safe, once she reaches US immediately apply for her H4 extension, she will get H4 extension till the validity of your new H1 approval notice.
***Other alternative: When she is entering US with the passport Visa that is valid till Jan 2004 AND shows your new H1 approval notice at POE then she will get the I-94 valid till your new H1 approval and in this case no need to extend H4 because she will be having valid I-94 till your new H1 approval.
