Got the reference last week asking for the employment letter and pay stub/W2. Here are my situation and questions:

I left my original petitioner in the beginning of 2002, it is a small consulting company, since my project finished and they can not find any new projects for me, they stopped paying me. There were no official laid off thing and they still sponsor my I485 at the same time. Submitted the I485 on Jan. 08, 2002.
I stayed at home for a while, can not find any job. Then I found myself pregent, of course it is even harder to find a job. So I stayed at home for nearly 2 years, took care of my baby. Util this year I got a job with the similiar position and salary.

Now for the reference, I can provide the employment letter, pay stubs.
But I have no W2 for the last three years. In the reference letter it said paystubs or W2, so my lawyer thinks I am fine. I don't know if it is really OK? Does anybody get the same letter as this and didn't provide the W2?

Now my biggest problem is I need to write a letter claiming why I left the company. In the letter I should claim the date I left and the date I joined the current company. There are a big time gap between this two. Besides the time I left the company is the time I submit the I485, will that be considered as invalid for I485? Should I delay the time that I left the company? But I am afraid later they ask for W-2 and I can not provide for 2002. Then I am screwed.

Please give me suggestion on this. Can i use pregenancy and take care of baby as the reason for not working?

Thanks.

I think the best bet is to submit current paystubs and employment letter with the current company and hoping that there will be no more RFEs or a transfer to a local office.

Do not give any information thats not asked. Did INS specifically asked you why you left the former company and when did you leave it ?
