Help! -- Did I ever lose status?

Hi, friends,
I have a question needs your help! Kind of confused to me...
I submitted I-140 and I-485 concurrently during employment using CPT and got I-140 approval during my OPT. I have not applied EAD when submitting I-485, but applied after I-140 approved. Since EAD took about 90 days to process, during that waiting time, I still used OPT to work till I got the EAD. Meanwhile, I did not lose status for a single day before my I-485 application. But I heard that whenever applied I-485, you were no longer F-1, OPT is bound with F-1 status, thus, lose status... :-(

Now I am wondering wether I may have trouble if I use Advanced Parole (AP) to visit home this coming Thanksgiving and return back USA? I have heard that sometimes even with AP, you may not be able to return USA if you have lost status for some time.
Would anyone be so kind to figure out whether I have lost status or not? Or I may encounter any problem? I have planned to apply H1-B before, but before I submitted the application, my I-140 was approved, so I applied EAD directly.

You never lost status, but used the wrong employment authorization. This might harm you in 485 approval or Citizenship interview, but not the usage of AP.
