I am worrying about whether I filed the documents properly.

I'm American, filing I-130 etc. fo rmy wife and two step daughters for AOS. They are in the U.S. on visitor visas.

This is the package I prepared...please tell me if I made any mistakes. I was totally confused. I also could find nothing that gave me good information on supplying photos of me. It seemed they only asked for one on the I-130 for my wife and nowhere else.

Look this over and please tell me if I did it right? Which I probably didn't. Thanks.

I just started preparing for the same process so I can't say I know more than you. But here are a few things I noticed. Please correct me if anyone who are more knowledgeble see these differently! :)

With I-864, wouldn't you need to submit the IRS transcripts or photocopy of the last 3 years? (See page 8 on Form 864)

Did you submit proof of your relationship such as joint account, group photos, affidavits letters, or lease ownership etc? (See page 2 on Form 130)

I know I-864 says 3 tax years, but currently only one tax year is required.

I think this I-130 is new, because when we filed, they didn't ask to submit any leases or photos. We didn't send anything like that with I-130. But well, I see that it's clearly asking for that now.

Good Luck! :)

The I-130 that is current from USCIS does not ask for lease,utilities, etc. I do not see that anywhere in the instructions. Those items are generally brought to the hearing for AOS, as I understand it.

According to the instructions..submitting 3 tax returns is optional, although I will take them to interview. I have been living outside of the U.S. for some time, so my tax returns exclude my foreign income, and thus no U.S. tax.

FJCRUISER,
If you followed instructions on the forms, you should be fine.
A few things that I noticed are missing:
- medical for your wife;
- 2 checks for I-130 fee for your stepdaughters;
You should have filed 3 Affidavit of Support forms. Did you?
If you use your W-2's only, you could have filed I-864EZ forms.
Also, I noticed, you're applying for your stepdaughters' work permit. How old are they? Did your marriage to their mother take place before their 18th birthday?

Have all the medicals....and all the checks (didn't make that clear I suppose) I sent copies of tax return but, because my employment and residence has been out of the country for many years, my tax is foreign income exempt and my returns are as basic as one can get. Only lists my income, period. I will submit foreign returns if requested.

Did file the affidavit of support for each one.

The daughters are 17 and 16 so no issues there. The work permits for them are because I understand they are needed to obtain SSN numbers. That is important since one needs to apply for College and potential financial aid and scholarships..for which an SSN is required.

Yes, they would be able to apply for SS cards with work authorizations if they can't wait until they get their green cards.
Good luck!
