HELP! -Company name change

NVC has already generated a fee bill after creating a case# for me. My company name recently changed but it is the same company, not a new company.

I intend to take a letter from the company detailing the name change. I am told that Chennai consulate has issued a press release to this effect.

I want to know if Mumbai consulate will accept my original approved 140 for the interview or I have to file an amendment 140 which takes the same time as a new 140? If anybody which had a similar experience or knows about this and can help I will appreciate it.

Thanks.

I do not believe that the co. name change should have an effect on the approved 140. Just make sure that there is sufficent evidence that to prove the change in the name of the co.

Same boat: Does anyone know about New Delh

Hi:

I am in the same boat. My 140 got approved just after my companies name changed, again just the name change. I had opted for consular processing at New Delhi. Does anyone know any details about ammended I-140 and the requirements of US Consulate in New Delhi in this regards.

How safe is it to go for the interview without it, etc etc.....

Thanks

Thanks for the responses. While I also believe that name change should not have an effect, my attorney is suggesting that I should file an amendment 140.
I also sent an email to Mumbai consulate and to my surprise they replied that I need to bring I-797 approval notice of the new 140 when I come for the interview. Though I had indicated in my email that it is the same company and not a new company, I am not sure if they understood me completely. My further reply for clarification did not get a response from them. So if anybody has gone through a similar experience in the recent past and can advise it would be great.

Thanks.

What will you do.....

Hey ak1182,

What will you be doing. Are you filing for an amended 140 and/or going for the interview with your current 140. Please let me know if you clarified your doubt with Mumbai consulate.

Thanks

Tumpi and AK,
I am not sure my case could be different than what you are talking but one of my past company was merged with another company, the attorney had filed new H1B for the new company and I got it stamped on my passport after the expiry of the first one and I always mentioned in all my forms of GC as different companies and period of work with that company.

vm1214,
Thanks for your input. Actually in my case I do not need even a new H1B. The existing H1B is still valid as the big difference in my case is it is NOT a new company. It is the same company, same management, same positions, salary, etc. .o..only the name has changed. So, it does not make any logical sense that I need to file another 140.
NVC also does not require a new 140 but Mumbai consulate seems to. That is why I am perplexed. Anybody who has actually gone for CP in this situation??

Thanks.
