Hi,

My wife's employer hired a lawyer for her Green card application. They refused to handle mine. We need to file my adjustment of status separately. We got the receipts for her I-140 and I-485. And prepared for all the forms.

Should we include 140 receipt or 485 receipt for her in my files?

What should we state in the cover letter to make sure that they know I am her derivative case?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Yes, and yes. Include copies of BOTH receipts to clearly demonstrate your eligibility, and her case so your file can be placed with hers. Make sure you mark this down in the cover leter and CLEARLY indicate you are a derivative, and specify the I-485 receipt number for your wife, and her A#.

Thanks. Should we say that her employer *** is petitioning for her to get permanent residence. she is the main applicant?, I am the derivative of her case?

What is the case number? The receipt number or A number?
