Guys,

RD-9/19/01
ND-11/15/01

FP - march 23,02

from Florida.

Moved to CHicago.

Does USPS forwarded INS letter to new address? Should I call VSC to change address? Will they transfer case to Nebraska if I call them

Although sent AR-11.

Thanks

Chill man!

Call IIO and inform them of address change.
USPS is instructed not to forward INS mail.

I don't think they'll transfer your case to Nebraska.
I spoke to my company lawyer and what she told me
concurs with what other contributors here have posted.

That is to say, the location of your company's HQ
typically determines which service center your case
is filed with.

This had better be true because I just moved to Texas
and if my case is transferred to the local office, the
waiting time is 1200 days!!! In which case, I'm going
on hunger strike outside my congressman's office.

You've already sent AR11, just call them to confirm the address change. They won't transfer your case based on your address change. As chicken65 said, postoffice will not forward INS letters.

It doesn't matter if you decide to send AR-11 or call IIO's to update your address.

Regarding USPS: I was also under the same impression that USPS will not be forwarding INS letters. I moved (out of state) during my I-485 Processing and some how approval notices were sent to the old address; but still ended up getting me & my wife's courtesy copies forwarded to our new address ??? One of my friend had Plastics forwarded to the new address ???

Please don't consider me in an ideal situation !!! I am only sharing the information.

Thanks.

We moved and this is what is going on ....

I sent AR-11 forms. I don't think VSC even opened them because when I called IIO, they said they had a mail backlog. I spoke to IIO regarding address update and she seemed to have taken everything down. But I received a notice of transfer (case transferred to Baltimore), with old address, but the highlight is my spouse had the new address ??!!

It is surprising the way these people work. But the good news is all communication from INS has been forwarded to my new address upto this point. For instance we received our FP notices in first week of June, which were forwarded from old address. I had called IIO in first week of June, and the FP notices were mailed before the address update. And now the transfer notice for me though it had the old address got forwarded.

But we cannot generalize this rule. And with all these rules being laid out, it is better to send a AR-11 form - preferably certified mail, so that you have proof of sending the address change.

Getting the IIO on phone is tough, but you may give try...

Good Luck friend !
