Help a young guy in love , please. ^_^ (bring future wife to US)

My wife and I got married in China and then applied for a CR-1 visa (conditional resident) as this will allow her to get her 2 year conditional green card upon visa approval and arrival in the U.S. We are about 10 and a half months into the process after filing the initial I-130 and the case has been transfered to the embassy in Guangzhou, China, but, we are still waiting on an interview appoinment date.

our timeline are very close. we filed i-130 in Dec 2005, and interview in mid-Nov 2006. we also received a letter from USCIS in sept 2006, stated all document needed were sent to embassy; one month later, we got the interview letter.
I think you may call USCIS, they might have scheduled interview time.

Well, if you think about it, coming to the US on a visit with the intention to get married itself is pretty questionable. Your actions could be scrutinized more than necessary. It is always best to travel to the girl's home country, get married, hire a lawyer, then go on a honeymoon.

I was a little confused as to what you suggest here. Why would you need to hire a lawyer per se? What is your proposed route to immigration after the honeymoon. Just curious.

Well, most of the people I know went to the girl’s home country to get married. Many hired lawyers to deal with the immigration issues, but some with free time did the procedure themselves. Considering the opening post of this thread, this poster knows nothing about immigration, so it would be best for him to hire a lawyer.

By the way, do you play Chopin? I've performed Chopin's Grande Valse Brilliante numerous times at pianos in malls.
