Heard No receipt for I-485!!!!

Heard today that there is no Receipt for I-485. We will only know if our check gets cleared by INS. Is it true? What if we have paid through credit card to lawyer.... How I can know whether the receipt has been issued or the process has started... Also How can I know that my application is realy sent by my lawyer and INS has recd. it....Please guide. Thanks.

If it is your attorney making stupid rumors of ignorance, then Fire the loser and Hire a good one, or your attorney will screw you big time by making stupid mistakes.
 
Ask the lawyer for track no

Ask the lawyer to give track number of the packet and track it.
If the checks are cashed by INS ,then it is the indication that your name is entered into the system. Any other method payment, wait for the receipt.
