Health Card and Candian DL

Both my license and Health card expired last year i didn't even realize it because i have been in the US for almost 4 years on a TN.

I am thinking about going back and renewing my DL (reason being i don't want to pay an arm and a leg in insurance )

Since i will be in Ontario i am also thinking about renewing my Health card but this is kind of tricky i don't know if i should or not?
If someone can please let me know what the law dictates.

Bad move. Your car insuarnce is only valid at the address you gave on your policy, so since you moved, espaecailly to US, you have likely been without coveage, and have failed to build up a history in US.

You absilutely needed a state DL about 30 days after you entered US. Car should be plated and insured in your state.

Also, if you did not tell OHIP that you were leaving and wanted to keep your card active, it dies about 6 months after you left. To clim anything about it now would be fraudulent.

What did you think living in US meant?
 
You really need to look at the laws in the state in which you are working. If you do not plan to comply, you should not return. Some police go through employer parking lots and ticket violators.
 
Sorry my apologies for not stating clearly.

My Canadian DL expired last year. I have a valid US DL license. I was wondering weather its prudent to keep my Canadian DL active i won't use it and i know in Chicago i can keep both the Canadian DL and Illinois DL (Illinois law does not care weather i have a valid Canadian liscense.

As far as the health card i have never used it while i was in the US actually never used since i got it which is around 7 years ago. I just don't know weather i should keep it with me or get it once i move back to Canada.

I did first day when i moved to Illinois i took my Canadian DL so i can get an Illinois DL i was told that i have to give a test and to keep my Canadian DL at home.
I just saw my first post i think i didn't stated everything.

Your Ontario DL is of no value. You cannot fake a Cdn address for this purpose. Same for your OHIP.


They are dead.
