My friend is here on H1B and his wife recently arrived as a dependent on H4 in june. They just had a baby. I believe that the baby is automatically an American Citizen. Does that help the parents (my friend and his wife) in securing green cards, or citizenship ?Or are there status going to be the same?

The baby is a US citizen, but there are no immigration benefits for the parents till the kid reaches 21 years old and can financially sponsor the parent.

so you mean that once the baby trurns 21 legaly he can file Visa for the parents as parents of a US citizen. so if they are to leave USA, they should get the kid an American passport ? is it ?

Right He can file immigrant visa
Birth certificate is enough
But to leave the country kid may need passport and visa too

They should apply for the baby's US passport and they should also contact the consulate for their own country to register the birth there too.
Dual citizenship is no problem, but as has been said, the baby cannot sponsor the parents until age 21

Congrats to your friend, and tell him to enjoy time together with new born and family.

Having a baby will not affect his status anyway or put him in any better position in terms of immigration. And, he is still 21 years away from process that enable his baby to sponsor the parents. :)
