Have I missed something? / processing times

Hi, I'm a British student currently on OPT working in New York. My OPT expires in June 2009.
My dad became a citizen a few years ago and to continue to stay in the country we filed an I-130 - [alien relative over 21] for me.

It's being processed in Vermont, where apparently their processing times for that particular i-130 are dating back to July 2006. (current as of Sept 2008) ....

looking through the forums, it seems some people filing i-130s of my sort are getting biometrics appointments only a few months after filing their stuff, have i missed something here?

Your help greatly appreciated.:)

Biometric for I-130 ?
I think they filed I-130 and I-485 together and fingerprint was for I-485 ?

hmm, ok.
If i was looking to stay in the country, should I have filed an i-485 as well as my i-130?
If it comes to that, should I have anything else with my i-130

thanks!

cut off date for unmarried son/daughter of citizen is July 2002 and you cannot file I485 at this moment.

ok. thanks.
So i'm all set with only the i-130, and now just have wait maybe a year or two (if I am to be approved) to get a green card?

thanks for your help

You probably need to wait for 6 to 7 years before filing I485 and I485 takes 6 - 12months in general.
