Have EAD and got Laid off recently

Hi,
I am presently on H1B and while My EAD is approved till Feb 2015, got laid off recently. I had following questions:
1. What is my legal status now?
2. If I want to use my EAD, what is the time frame within which I have to seek a job (in other words, how long am I allowed to find a new job in the country without harming my GC process)
3. I am the primary applicant on my GC .. Will my lay off affect my spouse's (secondary applicant's) status?
4. I have an impending travel plan to home country (family related reasons). Is it safe to travel interim.
5. During reentry to USA, what kind of questions/documents will be asked in POE.

Thanks,
SR

1) Adjustee
2) The EAD remains valid and you can find a new job so long as the I-485 is pending. No other time limit.
3) Your spouse lost H-4 status.
4) So long as you have AP.
5) Same as always. You shouldn't have a re-entry problem, but you should find a new job.

Until the employer asks USCIS to revoke your I-140, or USCIS inquires about your job situation of their own initiative. If that happens, you'll have a short time (maybe 30 days) to find a job and respond with proof of the job or job offer.
